Apr 18, 2017 - DD is an abbreviation for “Document Discriminator,” a piece of information that several states started adding to their driver's licenses. The DD is a security code that identifies where and when the license was issued. It uniquely identifies each card that was issued to a given individual. Welcome to coloradodriverslicenses.org. Colorado is rolling out a new look for its driver’s licenses starting this week, featuring a more colorful background honoring the high country. The Division of Motor Vehicles says a pilot program using the new design will begin Tuesday at their office in Littleton. DMV locations in Aurora and Frisco will follow in the next few weeks. “Colorado residents should continue to use their valid driver licenses, instruction permits and identification cards with the current design through their expiration date,” the DMV said in a Monday news release.

“There is no need to renew until the current card expires.” The current license design will be distributed at all other offices until the pilot period is complete. The new design features Mount Sneffels, located between Ouray and Telluride, and includes laser engraving of a driver’s information.
